If you’re planning a family trip to Singapore, six days is just the right amount of time to mix top attractions with some relaxing downtime. Here’s a simple, laid-back plan that keeps everyone, from kids to adults, happy and entertained.

I spent 6 months living in Singapore with my husband while doing my MBA (well... more like vacationing and exploring every corner of the city!). We didn’t leave any stone unturned, from the big tourist spots to the little hidden gems.

Singapore is a small island city-country in Southeast Asia, just off the southern tip of Malaysia. Though it’s a modern city, it's actually quite young, Singapore became independent in 1965, so it's just a little over 50 years old. But don’t let the age fool you, it’s one of the most well-planned and efficient cities I’ve seen.

While living there, I realized it’s a great place for families. It’s very clean, super kid-friendly, and has thoughtful facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities. One thing that really stood out to me was the greenery, beautiful parks, gardens, and tree-lined streets are everywhere. It’s so refreshing and calming!

6-Day Singapore Itinerary For Families

This 6-Day Singapore Itinerary For Families is something I’ve put together with activities that suit all age groups—kids, parents, and even grandparents. And at the end of the post, I’ve listed some extra places we loved in case you have more time to explore.

Day 1: Sentosa

Sentosa is Singapore’s ultimate fun island. It’s packed with adventure, beaches, and chill vibes. You get a mix of thrill rides, sea creatures, and sunset moments all in one spot. You will need an entire day here.

We rode the Skyline Luge, which is like go-karting downhill, explored the S.E.A. Aquarium to get up close with manta rays and sharks, had lunch right on the beach at Coastes, and ended the day watching the Wings of Time show light up the sea.

What not to miss: The Skyline Luge. You’ll want to do it more than once.

Timings:

• Luge: 11:00 am to 7:30 pm (till 9:00 pm on weekends)

• S.E.A. Aquarium: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

• Wings of Time: Showtimes at 7:40 pm and 8:40 pm

Prices:

• Skyline Luge: From S$30 (2 rides combo)

• S.E.A. Aquarium: Around S$43 for adults, S$32 for children

• Wings of Time: About S$18 per person

Day 2: Universal Studios Singapore

At Universal Studios, we had a fun-filled day with awesome attractions like Transformers: The Ride, The Lost World from Jurassic Park, exciting roller coasters, the much-loved Minion characters and many more things.

We arrived early to skip queues, hit all the top rides like Transformers and Revenge of the Mummy, then grabbed dinner at Mount Faber with amazing skyline views to unwind after a day of thrills.

What not to miss: Transformers: The Ride. It’s wild, immersive, and super fun for all ages.

Timings: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm (can vary slightly)

Prices:

• Express Pass (optional): From S$40 extra

Day 3: Singapore Zoo & Night Safari

The Singapore Zoo, in my opinion, is the best tourist attraction for visitors to Singapore. No doubt its called the World's Best Rainforest Zoo. The zoo is beautifully natural, spacious, clean and the animals seem almost free-roaming. There are many animal interactions, feeding sessions, live shows and greatest is their committment to conservation. The Night Safari is a totally different, almost magical, experience. You explore the zoo, gliding in a tram, in near-darkness, spotting nocturnal animals, their eyes glowing in the dark.

There are also live animal shows like Splash Safari (featuring sea lions) and Into the Wild, which gives a peek into how animals survive in the wild with keeper commentary. Highlights? The orangutans, white tigers, and the rainforest dome. You can even book a breakfast with the orangutans. How cool is that? It’s a fun and relaxed way to spend a few hours surrounded by nature.

We did the zoo in the morning, took a hotel break, and came back in the evening for the safari. It’s two different moods, both unforgettable.

What not to miss: The Night Safari tram ride. It’s the best way to see the animals in action.

• Night Safari: 7:15 pm to 12:00 am (last entry at 11:15 pm)

Day 4: China Town, Clarke Quay and Boat Quay

This is your laid-back cultural and foodie day. We kicked off the morning exploring Chinatown, walked through the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Sri Mariamman Temple, both super pretty and peaceful in their own way. The Heritage Centre was a cool stop too, gave us a quick dive into old-school Singapore. And yep, we definitely browsed the markets (because who doesn’t love a bit of street shopping?).

For lunch, we hit up Maxwell Food Centre, so many local dishes to try, it’s honestly hard to choose. The chicken rice was top-tier, and we chased it with some fresh sugarcane juice. You could also try Chinatown Complex, both are packed with great (and cheap) local eats.

In the afternoon, we made our way to Clarke Quay for the river bumboat cruise. Such a fun way to see the city! Clarke Quay also has an electrifying vibe with so many nightclubs springing into action after sunset. If you feel like dancing the night away, then Pulse and Zouk are top recommended places. After all that walking and adrenaline pump, grab a couple of Tiger beers at one of the colourful bars at Boat Quay and watch the city buzz around us, it’s the perfect chill break .

As the sun set, we made our way to Riverside Point on Merchant Road, just across from Clarke Quay MRT. It’s a chill al‑fresco dining and hangout spot by the river, with lots of bars and restaurants that come alive once night falls.

What not to miss: Ever tried the Slingshot in Singapore yet? It’s at Clarke Quay right along the river and, trust me, it’s next-level adrenaline. Imagine being launched sky‑high (70 m up) at speeds hitting ~160 km/h! Its pure madness! We did it after dinner and couldn’t stop laughing (and screaming).

• River Cruise: 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Prices:

• Bumboat ride: Around S$25 for adults, S$15 for children

• Try the Solo Slingshot or GX‑5 Swing, or go with the Scream Combo to try both in one go. The price is about SGD 45 per ride, and the combo around SGD 60–75, and you can even snag a video recording of your scream session.

Day 5: Gardens by the Bay or Orchard Road

Maybe strolling through gardens isn’t your thing, but trust me, Gardens by the Bay is a whole different vibe. It’s like stepping into the future. It has massive glass domes with multi-level gardens, misty indoor waterfalls, and those iconic glowing supertrees. It honestly feels like a scene straight out of Avatar.

A total must-visit when you're in Singapore. We explored the Gardens, visited the Cloud Forest and Flower Dome, then stayed for the Supertree light show. It felt like a scene from Avatar.

If you want to keep it easy, Orchard Road has malls, ice cream spots, and lots of air-con.

What not to miss: The Supertree Grove light show. It’s free and magical.

Timings: Gardens: 9:00 am to 9:00 pm; Light show: 7:45 pm and 8:45 pm

If you're heading to Singapore, these are a few experiences I’d totally recommend booking in advance:

Day 6: Marina Bay Sands, ArtScience Museum and Dinner at Lau Pa Sat

This is Singapore’s most iconic skyline, no doubt. We took the elevator up to the SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands and got those sweeping panoramic city views, totally worth it! If you're up for it, the nightclub KuDeTa (now called CÉ LA VI) on the rooftop is a hit with both locals and tourists.

Just below, the ArtScience Museum, the one shaped like a lotus flower, is a great spot, especially for families. We explored the Future World exhibit where you can play with light, color, and interactive digital art. The kids (and let’s be honest, us too) had so much fun watching walls come alive and stepping into dreamy, immersive rooms. They also had rotating exhibits on things like space, sustainability, and cool tech, so there’s always something new.

After the museum, we took it slow, strolled along the Marina Bay promenade, and ended with a close-up look at the Merlion. The whole area lights up beautifully at night—it’s the perfect end to a city day.

We ended the day at Lau Pa Sat, and it was such a fun vibe. After 7 pm, the road outside turns into Satay Street with smoky grills, sizzling skewers, and loads of locals and tourists grabbing dinner.

We grabbed a table, ordered a bunch of chicken and prawn satay, and just sat there soaking in the lively street scene. It’s one of those real hawker food experiences you shouldn’t miss in Singapore. Tasty, super affordable, and full of local flavor!

What not to miss: The SkyPark view, especially in late afternoon when the light gets golden.

• ArtScience Museum: 10:00 am to 7:00 pm

Prices:

• SkyPark: Around S$32 for adults, S$27 for children

• Museum: From S$21 for adults, S$16 for children (varies by exhibition)

Day of Depature: Jewel Changi Airport

Jewel isn’t just an airport. It’s a destination in itself. The world’s tallest indoor waterfall, tropical gardens, sky walks, and amazing food options make it perfect for pre-flight fun. One of the coolest is the Butterfly Garden in Terminal 3. It’s actually the world’s first airport butterfly garden, with over 1,000 butterflies fluttering around tropical plants and flowers. Such a calming, unexpected little escape right inside the terminal!

It features the world's tallest indoor waterfall called the Rain Vortex which is a 40-meter (131-foot) tall waterfall. At night, the Rain Vortex lights up with a beautiful light and music show, which is absolutely free to watch. . There is also a Canopy Park, right at the top of Jewel on Level 5. It is a massive 14,000 sq. meter indoor garden playground. It’s a fun, nature-themed space with cool attractions for all ages. Tickets go up to around SGD 46.70, depending on what you choose to explore.

What not to miss: The Rain Vortex light show. Mesmerizing and totally free.

• Jewel attractions: 10:00 am to 10:00 pm

• Rain Vortex light shows: 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm daily (plus 10:00 pm on weekends)

Prices:

• Rain Vortex & Forest Valley: Free

• Canopy Park: From S$8 per person

• Extra attractions like Hedge Maze or Sky Nets: S$10 to S$15 each

Places We Couldn’t Get Enough Of:

• East Coast Park – We used to frequent East Coast Park because it's great for walking, biking, or just chilling with a picnic. We used to rent bikes and ride along the cemented promenade alongside the beach.

• MacRitchie Reservoir – A lovely nature spot with peaceful walking trails. If you’re feeling adventurous, try the TreeTop Walk, it gives you amazing views above the forest.

• Holland Village – I persoanlly loved this place because of its array of live music restaurants and a particular burger spot there. Its a relaxed area with trendy cafés, local food stalls, and lots of restaurants.

• Arab Street & Haji Lane – Super colorful and fun! It was our go-to place for shisha and Middle Eastern food. The whole area has a cool, artsy vibe.

• Dempsey Hill – A quiet, green area with beautiful restaurants. We actually spent Valentine’s night here, so yes, it’s a lovely place for a special dinner or family outing.

• CHIJMES – This pretty old building in the middle of the city, located in the heart of Singapore's Civic and Cultural District, has been turned into a stylish hangout with fancy restaurants, cute bars, and a romantic open-air courtyard. It looks especially beautiful at night with all the lights.

• Alexandra Arch - That striking bridge just opposite the SP Jain School of Global Management campus is called the Alexandra Arch, a modern pedestrian bridge that connects Hyderabad Road (where the campus sits) to HortPark and the Southern Ridges trail. Step onto the bridge and you can follow the Forest Walk or Hilltop Walk into Telok Blangah Hill Park and beyond.
